Ti-6Al-4V AMS4911 Titanium Plate details

Titanium Factory Direct High Quality

AMS4911 is an aerospace-grade annealed titanium plate made of Ti-6Al-4V (TC4, Grade 5). It possesses high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance, with strict control over impurities such as oxygen and iron, and is specifically designed for critical aerospace structural components.

Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5 / AMS4911) titanium plates are a "trump card" material in the aerospace and high-end manufacturing fields, corresponding to the Chinese national standard TC4. AMS4911 is an aerospace-grade standard issued by SAE, which has stricter controls on impurities, flaw detection, and batch consistency compared to general industrial standards (such as ASTM B265).

Application Areas

Aerospace: Aircraft skin, ribs, engine compressor blades, rocket casings.

Marine Engineering: Submarine pressure hulls, seawater pipelines, ship components.

Medical and Chemical Industries: Artificial joints, chemical reaction vessels, heat exchangers.

Why choose AMS4911?

High specific strength: Its strength is close to that of high-strength steel, but it is nearly half the weight, making it an ideal material for aircraft structural components and landing gear.

Corrosion resistance: Its corrosion resistance is far superior to stainless steel in seawater, chloride environments, and chemical media.

Temperature adaptability: Long-term operating temperature can reach 400°C, and short-term operating temperature can even reach 750°F (approximately 400°C), making it suitable for engine components as well.

Biocompatibility: Non-toxic and non-magnetic, it is also commonly used in medical implants (although medical implants typically prefer ELI grade with lower oxygen content).

Procurement and Processing Recommendations

Distinguishing between Grade 5 and Grade 23 (ELI): AMS4911 is the standard Grade 5. If you require higher fracture toughness (such as for critical medical or deep-sea structures), you should specify Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Grade 23), which has a lower oxygen content (O≤0.13%).

Processing Challenges: Grade 5 has poor thermal conductivity, making it prone to tool sticking and severe work hardening during cutting. It is recommended to use specialized tools and ensure adequate cooling.

Weldability: Good weldability, commonly achieved using TIG or MIG welding, but proper backside protection is essential to prevent oxidation.
